Marburg virus outbreaks in Africa

Abstract Marburg virus disease (MVD) is a zoonotic viral hemorrhagic illness, caused by negative sense, single-stranded RNA which has an envelope. The belongs to the genus Marburgvirus of family Filoviridae . Due similarities in clinical signs and symptoms seen other diseases, arboviral infections, malaria, MVD difficult diagnose. On February 8, 2023, Equatorial Guinea declared first case MVD, was confirmed Institute Pasteur Laboratory, Dakar, Senegal. had fatality rate up 88% during this outbreak. About eight individuals who suspected as well with infection, passed away. This letter addresses current previous outbreaks African nations whether or not they may result epidemic. It also discusses significance effective biosecurity quarantine limiting spread highly contagious illness like population.
